Tips on taking your photograph

Choose your subject and 'frame' your required image. Always fill the 'frame' with the full subject you want in your final photograph. Get as close as you can to your subject without losing any of the image.

Consider the final shape you want your painting to be. The photograph will determine this, so do you want what is called 'landscape format', or 'portrait format'? The composition of the painting will be quite different depending upon which format you choose. Look through your viewfinder and decide which way frames your subject best.

If you are ordering cards the composition will also determine the format of your cards. I always think portrait shaped cards stand better, so bear this in mind.

It may be you have a photograph you like but you don't want all of the image in your painting.Thats fine, block out what you want me to omit and before you send it check you are happy with the composition in the cut down image.
